Frances Violet was born on March 13th, 1836. Frances Violet's father was William McClung and her mother was Rachel Viola Gwin. Her paternal grandparents were John McClung and Sarah McCutcheon; her maternal grandparents were David Gwin and Violet Crawford. She had eight brothers and three sisters, named John Henderson, David Gwin, William Alexander, Andrew Crawford, Silas Brown, Robert T., Samuel A., Lewis Martin, Sarah Susan, Mary Margaret and Susan Agnes. She was the fifth youngest of the twelve children.-
