David Gwin McClung 
David Gwin was born on February 16th, 1824. David Gwin's father was William McClung and his mother was Rachel Viola Gwin. His paternal grandparents were John McClung and Sarah McCutcheon; his maternal grandparents were David Gwin and Violet Crawford. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named John Henderson, William Alexander, Andrew Crawford, Silas Brown, Robert T., Samuel A., Lewis Martin, Sarah Susan, Frances Violet, Mary Margaret and Susan Agnes. He was the second oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 77 on March 3rd, 1901.General Notes
In early manhood, he served as sheroff of Pendleton County, WV. He engaged in merchandising for more than forty years. At the beginning of the Civil War, he went to Richmond, VA and conducted a mercantile house which supplied the Confederate army with uniforms. After the way, he returned to Franklin, WV and organized the Farmers' Bank of Pendleton, serving as president and director of the bank until his death.
