Jefferson was born on September 29th, 1850 in Shelby,IN. Jefferson's father was Thomas Goodrich and his mother was Mary Ray. His paternal grandparents were George Whetzel Goodrich and Mary Tush; his maternal grandparents were Hudson Ray and Margaret Byerly. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Amos, Cyrus, Nathan, Franklin Pierce, Monroe, Permelia, Prudence, Phoebe Rhoda and Almira. He was the fourth youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 90 in 1940 in Fairland,Shelby,IN.-
