Grover Cleveland was born on September 22nd, 1892 in Clear Creek Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana. Grover Cleveland's father was James Madison Shields and his mother was Mary Jane Heltonburg. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Shields and Sarah "Sally" Masterson; his maternal grandparents were Hiram Martin Heltonburg and Nancy Sowders. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Joseph Lenzy, Hiram Martin, Paris Everett "Jack", Estella Martha, Mamie Alma, Infant, Izella Ethel, Maude Emiline, Rosezetta Frances and Nancy Pearl. He was the second youngest of the eleven children. He had seven half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Louis W., George Washington, William C., John Thomas, James K. Polk, Isaac, David Jefferson, Sarah Elizabeth, Nancy Jane, Mary Alice and Delitha Belle. He died at the age of 88 on July 9th, 1981 in Monroe County, Indiana. He was buried in Clear Creek Cemetery, Clear Creek, Monroe Co., Indiana.-
