Estella Martha was born on March 17th, 1879 in Monroe County, Indiana. Estella Martha's father was James Madison Shields and her mother was Mary Jane Heltonburg. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Shields and Sarah "Sally" Masterson; her maternal grandparents were Hiram Martin Heltonburg and Nancy Sowders. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Joseph Lenzy, Hiram Martin, Grover Cleveland, Paris Everett "Jack", Mamie Alma, Infant, Izella Ethel, Maude Emiline, Rosezetta Frances and Nancy Pearl. She was the oldest of the eleven children. She had seven half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Louis W., George Washington, William C., John Thomas, James K. Polk, Isaac, David Jefferson, Sarah Elizabeth, Nancy Jane, Mary Alice and Delitha Belle. She died at the age of 69 in 1948 in Monroe County, Indiana. She was buried in Knight's of Pythius Cemetery, Smithville, Monroe Co., Indiana.-
