Margaret was born on November 22nd, 1782 in Lancaster Co., PA. Margaret's father was Thomas Buffington and her mother was Elizabeth Slaymaker. Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Buffington and Mary Frissell; her maternal grandparents were John Slaymaker and Elizabeth White. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named John, Daniel, William, Henry Slaymaker, Thomas, Alexander, Benjamin, Ann, Jane and Elizabeth. She was the oldest of the eleven children.General Notes
