Isaac Mather
Isaac was born in January 1760 in
Turton and his baptism took place on November 16th, 1763 at
Walmsley Presbyterian conducted by minister John Aspinal.
3
- Birth Notes
- Isaac was born late 1759 or early 1760, before Ann and Richard were married and later baptised in 1863. There are no other Richard and Ann marriages in Lancashire around this time! A birth in 1760 would also make Isaac 82 when buried, which is consistent with burial record.

This is the most likely, as future wife Happy Lomax was also Christened at Bank Street Unitarian. Although the James and Susannah baptisms dont align with the others, there is only one James and Ann family in Bolton district, so it seems Isaac was baptised late (after the marriage).

- May have died between 1798 and 1815, as Happy married again in 1816. Most probably about 1814, but its a guess!
Several death records for James Mather, but none match age and spouse.
A James Mather Cash receipt for £2-2-0 for a grave no. 7-29 is recorded in 20-Oct-1811 in the Register of Burials at Bridge Street Wesleyan Chapel at Little Bolton in the parish of Bolton le Moors, Lancashire from 1810 to 1837.

Happy Mather is listed in the L.B. Poor Book for 1811, which is consistant with Samuel dying in 1811. She was a rate and tax payer, with 2s 9d rate collected for a House in Blackburn Street and not on the poor recipient list.
There is another burial record for a James Mather, 54 in Wigan 28 June 1814, but the Bolton record is more likely.

"Susanna daughter of Richard and Anne Mather of Turton baptised July 23 1763 PH, born June 28 1763"
She died about 1764 in
Turton.
- Death Notes
- Assumed to have died an infant, as the next daughter was also baptised Susan.
A Susannah Mather was buried at St Mary's Manchester, 1 Dec 1840, aged 75 (2 years out), which is unlikely to be her.
On 16-Sep-1764, a Susannah, D'r of John Mather was buried at Walton-le-Dale, Blackburn but this is wrong father and wrong place.
Perhaps Susannah never died, but got baptised twice !
