Margaret's father was James Tonge (aka Mather) and her mother was Janet Hepburn.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Tonge and Agnes Wane. She had a brother and a sister, named James and Agnes.  She was the second oldest of the three children. She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Thomas, James, Joseph, Agnes and Mary.  She died at the age of 73 in 1959.
