James Mather

James was born in 1900. James' father was James Tonge (aka Mather) and his mother was Mary Ann Ashall. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Tonge and Agnes Wane. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Joseph, Agnes and Mary. He was the third oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named James, Agnes and Margaret. He died at the age of 71 in 1971.

General Notes
- In 1911, James (aged 10) and his father were living in Carmarthenshire, both working as Surface Banksmen at the local colliery. His molder brother Thomas H married Agnes Smith there in 1918.
