Alice's father was William Ramsden and her mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Hamer.  Her paternal grandparents were <Unknown> and Matty Ramsden.  John Nelson and Sarah Ramsden were her grandparents through her father's adoption. She had six brothers and four sisters, named John, James, William, Alfred, Fred, Ernest, Martha, Sarah, Emma and Alice.  She was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 1 in 1866 in Turton.¹
