Mary was born in December 1865 in Garston.1  Mary's father was Joseph Oxton and her mother was Mary Lewis.  Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Oxton and Rachel Williams. She had seven brothers and a sister, named John, Joseph, George, Joseph, Robert, William, Thomas and Margaret.  She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 66 in 1931.
