Harry's father was Joseph Miller and his mother was Jane Mather. His maternal grandparents were William Mather and Eliza Graham. He had four brothers and five sisters, named William, John, Fred, Alfred, Alice, Mary, Eliza, Maria and Florence. He was the second oldest of the ten children.
