      It was probably taken around 1950 to 1960
Lilly, known as Lil, was born on December 22nd, 1876 in Birkenhead and her baptism took place there on March 4th, 1877.1 2  Lil's father was John Robert Mercer and her mother was Emily Anne Herring.  Her paternal grandparents were George Mercer and Mary Dutton. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Herbert, Douglas, Sidney, Ernest, William, Florence and Eda.  She was the second oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 83 on September 23rd, 1960 in Manchester.1

    • From Sues' Grandma's book.  Think the boy is George who was killed, middle is Alice and girl on right is Nellie.  Sue can recognise Alice and Nellie's faces.  They are glued in the book so cannot read the back looking at Aunt Alice I think the photo is about 1914/15 and her Grandma's head (lily Mather) above taken years later.

‌Lil and Dick were married in a religious ceremony on May 23rd, 1904 at the Birkenhead Baptist Church.1  They had two sons and four daughters, named George, Joe, Elsie, Nellie, Alice and Winnie.  There are no more children.
