Sarah was born on October 22nd, 1829 in Whitefield and his baptism took place on November 29th, 1829 at All Saints (Stand).1 2  Sarah's father was James Chadwick Mather and his mother was Sarah Charlton.  His paternal grandparents were Francis Mather and Elizabeth Chadwick. He had four brothers and two sisters, named John, Francis, James, Thomas, Ann and Elizabeth.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 78 on November 18th, 1907 in Whitefield.  He was buried in November 1907 in Stand.1
