John Mather

John was born in 1828 in Whitefield and his baptism took place on January 27th, 1828 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Prestwich).¹

John's father was James Chadwick Mather and his mother was Sarah Charlton. His paternal grandparents were Francis Mather and Elizabeth Chadwick. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Sarah, Francis, James, Thomas, Ann and Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 77 on July 2nd, 1905 in Whitefield.

  In 1901, John (73, born Wigan) was living with his daughters Sarah Ann, and Margaret A, both School teachers.
