James Chadwick Mather

James was born on July 19th, 1803 in Redvales and his baptism took place on September 4th, 1803 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Bury).¹²

James' father was Francis Mather and his mother was Elizabeth Chadwick. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, Richard, John, Francis, Mary, Hannah, Sally, Hannah and Esther. He was the eighth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 60 on September 8th, 1863 in Whitefield.¹

- James was the son of Francis Mather (1764-1841) and Elizabeth Chadwick (1766-1826), married 24 Aug 1786 at Bury. He had an older brother Francis Mather (1792-1858).
  
  22 Feb 1825 James married Sarah Charlton at Wigan. (Sarah was born at Chowbent, so Wigan was her parish church)
  
  In 1841, Janes (a Tradesman) and Saran (both 37) were at Whitefield with Ann (15), Sarah (11), James (7) and Elizabeth (4). Also present were Margaret Taylor and John Ratclidde (both 20).
  
  In 1829, James was an Inn Keeper when Sarah was baprised
