Hannah was born on September 17th, 1805 in Redvales and her baptism took place on November 3rd, 1805 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Bury).1  Hannah's father was Francis Mather and her mother was Elizabeth Chadwick. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Richard, John, Francis, James, Mary, Hannah, Sally and Esther.  She was the second youngest of the ten children.
