Robert was born on May 31st, 1879 in Hampden.1   Robert's father was William Gibson Mather and his mother was Mary (Fannie) Frances McCauley.  His paternal grandparents were William Mather and Helen (Ellen) Cunliffe; his maternal grandparents were Rovert V McCauley and Mary Jane Haupt. He had five brothers and four sisters, named William, Joseph, Charles, Lee, Ira, Nellie, Irma, Fannie and Martha.  He was the oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 52 on June 12th, 1931 in Baltimore County.1 



Robert's first family with Ida Mae Beatty

‌Robert and Ida were married in a religious ceremony on June 24th, 1903 in Baltimore.1  They had two sons and a daughter, named Earl, Ellwood and Margaret.  There are no more children.


Robert's second family with Eula Alethia Grimes

‌Robert and Eula were married in a religious ceremony on August 15th, 1912 in Baltimore County.1  They had two sons and three daughters, named Grimes, Rachel, Hollis, Helen and Eula.  There are no more children.
