Ralph was born in September 1833 in Bolton and his baptism took place on September 29th, 1833 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1 2  Ralph's father was James Mather and his mother was Catharine Chandler.  His paternal grandparents were Ralph Mather and <Unknown>. He had five brothers and two sisters, named James, John, Thomas, John, William, Elizabeth and Mary.  He was the oldest of the eight children.  He died due to a respiratory problem and/or pneumonia, Consumption, at the age of 31 in March 1865 in Hulme (near Manchester).  He was buried on March 29th, 1865 in Hulme (near Manchester).3

‌Ralph and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony on July 26th, 1857 at Manchester Cathedral.5  They had a son and a daughter, named Ralph and Elizabeth.  There are no more children.
