Rachel Mather

Rachel was born in June 1781 in Astley and her baptism took place on June 9th, 1781 at St. Stephens (Astley).¹

Rachel's father was John Mather and her mother was Ann Eckersley.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and <unknown>. She had six brothers and two sisters, named John, Bould, Bury, Otho, Mary, Thomas, Rachel and Ann.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  She died as an infant at the age of 7 in October 1788 in Astley.  She was buried on May 10th, 1788 at St. Stephens (Astley).^2 3
