Margaret was born in 1858 in Westhoughton.1  Margaret's father was William Mather and her mother was Margaret Smith.  Her paternal grandparents were Geffrey (Jeffery) Mather and Catherine Gregory. She had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Edward, Geoffrey, William, Geoffrey, Catherine, Ann and Ann.  She was the second youngest of the nine children.



Margaret's family with Samuel Higham

‌Margaret and Samuel were married in a religious ceremony in December 1891 in Westhoughton.2  They had two daughters named Margaret and Annie.  There are no more children.
