Geffrey (Jeffery) Mather

Geffrey, known as Jeffery, was born in 1790 in Westhoughton and his baptism took place on November 1st, 1790 at Peel Chapel.¹

Jeffery's father was William Mather and his mother was Mary Green. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Samuel, John, Joseph, Henry, Moses, Alice, Ann, Mariann and Margaret.  He was the fourth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 52 in October 1842 in Westhoughton.  He was buried on October 31st, 1842 at St. Bartholomew (Westhoughton).²
