Lucy's father was Henry Mather and her mother was Mary Sim. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Whitehead and Margaret (Peggy) Mather. She had a brother and two sisters, named Joshua, Margaret and Hetty. She was the third oldest of the four children. She had two half-brothers named George and Alexander.

General Notes
- In 1871, after her father Henry Mather died, Lucy was a boarder with John and Betty Nuttall at Club Row, Tottington Lower End.
  
  31 Aug 1873, Lucy, aged 19, daughter of Henry Mather married Joseph Davenport at Blackburn.
  
  Lucy married again in 1904 to Francis Blagg from Nottingham and imigrated to Rhode Island USA soon after 1911.
