Alexander was born in June 1864 in Edgworth.¹

Birth Notes

Alexander's father was Henry Mather and his mother was Mary Taylor. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Whitehead and Margaret (Peggy) Mather. He had a brother named George. He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Joshua, Margaret, Lucy and Hetty. He died at the age of 66 on July 4th, 1930 in Glossop.¹
