James Mather

James was born in December 1847 in Entwistle.¹

James' father was James Mather and his mother was Martha Kay. His paternal grandparents were James Mather and Rachel Hamer. He had five brothers and two sisters, named John, Jonathan, Amos, Eli, Abraham, Sarah and Nancy. He was the youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 74 on January 4th, 1922 in Entwistle. His burial was on January 7th, 1922 at St. Anne (Turton).²³

  The date of burial is probably correct as entered in date order with other records. The date of death on Probate must be an error (and should be the 4th) unless James was buried alive!
