Amos, married Ann Briggs, but was a widower in 1911, with an adopted daughter Agnes Lomax and a servant. He was clearly a very sucessful man, leaving an estate of £17,341 in 1921 - quite a sum in those days! (so perhaps he inherited his fathers farm).
Amos was a bookkeeper at the Bleach Works, living in Little Bolton in 1871 and 1881.
In 1878, Amos of Astly Street, Bolton was one of the executors of his fathers Will.
In 1884, there was an Amos, son of William and Sarah Ann Briggs who died an infant.
In 1891, Amos Mather, born Turton, Manager Bleaching, was married to Ann (both 53) at 343 Blackburn Road. They had a servant but no children.
By 1901 Amos was the works manager.
In 1921, Amos died at Bispham near Blackpool, so probably in a returement or nursing home on the coast.
