Elizabeth was born on January 24th, 1850 in Whitefield and her baptism took place on March 31st, 1850.1  Elizabeth's father was John Mather and her mother was Lucy Hilton.  Her paternal grandparents were James Madther and Mary Walker. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Lewis, Wilson, James, John, Thomas, Mary, Sally, Eliza, Jane, Alice and Rachel.
