Elizabeth was baptised the daughter of Joshua and Mary Mather. It seems probable the Joshua is Joseph. This is supported by:
1) Joshua a possible alternate name for Joseph
2) Gap in births at 1805 for Elizabeth to fit
3) Double marriage of two daughters (Elizabeth and Sarah)
4) No marriage of Joshua and Mary (only Joseph)
5) No other Bolton baptisms with father Joshua Mather
Elizabeth was born about 1805 in Little Bolton. It follows that it is this Elizabeth the daughter of Joshua and Mary Mather of Little Bolton, baptised 17 Feb 1805 that married Edmund Heaton.
Known as Betsy when married and for the birth of the first children, and then used the name Elizabeth from 1836 when Thomas and Sarah were born.
In 1841, Elizabeth Heaton (35) was at Piklington Street, Halliwell with Hannah (15), Joseph (10), and Sarah (3).
In 1851, Elizabeth Heaton (Wid, 46) was a Provision Dealer at New Road, Halliwell. With her were sons Joseph and John (23 & 18), all born Little Bolton, and daughter Sarah (12, born Halliwell)
In 1871, Elizabeth Heaton (66, Wid) was at 10 Whittle Court, New Road, Halliwell with Alice Wood (78, occupier).
6 Jan 1881, Betsy Heaton, aged 76, widow of Edmund Heaton died at Back New Road, Halliwell, Bolton.
