Joseph was born in 1803 in Little Bolton and her baptism took place on February 13th, 1803 at St. George (Little Bolton).1 2  Joseph's father was Joseph (Joshua) Mather and her mother was Mary Thorp.  Her paternal grandparents were William Mather and Betty Holt. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Betsy, Sarah and Hannah.  She was the third oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 1 in January 1804 in Little Bolton.  Her burial was on January 22nd, 1804 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1
