Charles Mather

Charles was born in 1815 in Worsley and his baptism took place on July 2nd, 1815 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Eccles).¹

Charles' father was Ellis Mather and his mother was Ann Thornley.  His paternal grandparents were Edmund (Edwin) Mather and Mary <unknown>. He had eight brothers and three sisters, named James, William, John, Ellis, Thomas, Peter, David, Moses, Betty, Alice and Betty.  He was the third youngest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 71 in July 1886 in Swinton.  He was buried on July 3rd, 1886 in Swinton.²

‌Charles and Ellen were married in a religious ceremony on August 7th, 1837 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Eccles).³   They had a son and three daughters, named Ellis, Sarah, Mary and Ellen.
