Ann was born in 1835 in Atherton.1  Ann's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Elizabeth Buckley.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Mather and Jane (Jenny) Sale. She had five brothers and a sister, named Martha, Edward, James, John, Richard and Elizabeth.  She was the sixth oldest of the seven children.
