Agnes was born in September 1903 in Tyldesley.1  Agnes' father was John James Mather and her mother was Agnes Jackson.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ellen Mort. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Joseph, James, James, Harry, Ethel, Gertrude, Esther and Edith.  She was the youngest of the ten children.
