May was born on September 23rd, 1902 in Birkenhead and her christening took place on February 22nd, 1903 at St. Michael All Angels (Claughton).¹²

May's father was James (Jim) Judge and her mother was Ellen Ann Timmis. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Judge and Fanny Elliot; her maternal grandparents were Richard Timmis Jnr and Lydia Woodward. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Tom, Willie, Annie, Nellie and Lillie. She was the youngest of the six children. She died due to heart disease at the age of 89 on October 15th, 1991 in Birkenhead. The funeral took place on October 22nd, 1991 at the Landican Cemetery and was arranged by Charles Stevens. Her cremation was on October 22nd, 1991 at the Landican Cemetery.³³

General Notes
- May married Erich quite late in life (aged 43) and emigrated to Canada. She returned to England after Erich's death.
  
  She liked a brandy, and is pictured with one here. She played the piano from when she was three.
  
  In 1939 the Judge family (Willie, Nellie, Lillie, May Ray and Mary J Timmis) were at 6 Woodcroft Lane, Bebington.
