John Hopley

John was born in September 1794 in Overton and his baptism took place on September 28th, 1794 in Worthenbury.¹²

  Note: There is a small parish of Overton near Malpas, which is possibly what is being refered to on the Cheshire census returns, although there is also Overton-on-Dee, Flintshire, just 5 miles from Worthenbury.

John's father was Thomas Hopley and his mother was Ann Pritchard. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Hopley and Catherine Lewis. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named William, John, Thomas, James, Robert, Daniel, Peter, Jane and Anne. He was the youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 73 in March 1868 in Great Boughton.³
