Anne's father was Robert Hopley and her mother was Margaret Richards. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Hopley and Catherine Lewis; her maternal grandparents were Richard Richards and Anne Phythian. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Thomas, William, Samuel, Margaret, Margaret and Jane. She was the second oldest of the eight children.

- Daughter Ann (of Broxton parish) married John Hough (of Coddington parish) in Broxton, Malpas.
  
  In 1841, Ann (50) and John (55, farmer) were farming at Stapeley, Wybunbury (possibly the wrong family).
