Jack's father was Lister (Lester) Farrer and his mother was Lillie Hodgson. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Farrer and Ann (Annie) Elizabeth Lister. He had a brother and a sister, named Henry and Edith. He was the oldest of the three known children. He died at the age of 63 on November 1st, 1966.
