James Farnworth

James was born in March 1865 in Farnworth and his baptism took place on March 7th, 1865 at St. John the Evangelist (Failsworth).¹²

James' father was Moses Farnworth and his mother was Betsy Mather. His maternal grandparents were Hugh Mather and Alice Crompton. He had three brothers and five sisters, named James, Abraham, Robert, Elizabeth, Alice, Mary, Ada and Jane. He was the oldest of the nine known children. He died as an infant at 10 months old in January 1866 in Farnworth.¹
