Robert's father was George Eddowes and his mother was Nellie Weeden. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Eddowes and Mary Ann Hughes; his maternal grandparents were George Henry Weeden and Sarah Ann Breakwell. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Frederick, Thomas, William, James, Nellie and Elsie. He was the fifth oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 59 on January 16th, 1968 in Leigh. His cremation was on January 24th, 1968.²³
