Esther Eddowes

Esther was born in September 1868 in Birkenhead and her baptism took place there on November 11th, 1868.¹²

Esther's father was William Eddowes and her mother was Elizabeth Shortreid. Her paternal grandparents were John Eddowes and Mary Whitfield. She had three brothers and four sisters, named John, William, John, Agnes, Jessie, Jennet and Lillian. She was the third oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 57 in March 1926 in Birkenhead.³

General Notes
- Esther's birth was recorded Q3 1868 in Birkenhead, yet on the 1871 census she is shown as 9 months. There are no other nirths recorded, so perhaps 9 months should by 29.
  
  18 May 1896, Thomas and Esther were living at Latimer Street when they married.
  
  In 1901 living with Thomas and family in Birkenhead. Esther was left £100 in the will of her mother Elizabeth Eddowes in 1911.
  
  In 1903 and 1908, Esther Price had two other children that died. Birth records confirm the mother as EDDOWES. They were not shown on the 1911 census (as children that had died).
  
  In 1911, Thomas a dock labourer and Esther (45 & 39) had been married 17 years and had 3 children.
