William was born in June 1866 in Is-y-Coed and his baptism took place there on October 4th, 1867.1 2  William's father was James (John) Clutton and his mother was Mary Ann Eddowes.  His maternal grandparents were John Eddowes and Mary Whitfield. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, James, Mary, Lucy and Eleanor.  He was the youngest of the seven children. He had a half-sister named Mary.  He died at the age of 15 in May 1882 in Caca Duton.  He was buried on May 17th, 1882 in Holt.3
