Susannah was born about 1824 in Melling.1  Susannah's father was Richard Clarkson and her mother was Mary Rainford. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, William, Peter, Robert, Joseph, Jane and Mary.  She was the oldest of the eight children.



Susannah's family with John Coop

‌Susannah and John were married in a religious ceremony on February 17th, 1850 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by Curate George W. Bridgeman and witnessed by William Clarkson; James Liptrot.2  The family line is yet to be completed.
