Martha was born in 1844 in Liverpool.1 Martha's father was John Brereton and her mother was Mary Hand. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Brereton and Elizabeth (Betty) Haywood. She was an only child.General Notes
Martha's marriage was reported in the Chester Chronicle:
10th Inst., by license, at Holy Trinity Church, Liverpool, Mr John Huxley, coach builder, and grandson of the late Thomas Woodhall Esq of Smallbrook Cottage, Whitchurch, Salop to Martha, only child of John Brereton Esq, brewer, all of Liverpool.
