Jessie's father was Samuel Brereton and her mother was Ellen Humphreys. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Brereton and Martha Hughes. She had two brothers and a sister, named Evan, Thomas and Minnie. She was the third oldest of the four children. She died at the age of 92 on November 29th, 1971 in USA.²
