George's father was Samuel Brereton and his mother was Jane Whittingham. He had four brothers and six sisters, named John, Constantine, James, Thomas, Jane, Mary, Ann, Martha, Betty and Hannah.  He was the fifth oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 12 in May 1795 in Bridgemere.  He was buried on May 6th, 1795 in Wybunbury.¹
