Betty was born in March 1795 in Stapeley and her baptism took place on March 8th, 1795 in Wybunbury.1  Betty's father was Samuel Brereton and her mother was Jane Whittingham. She had five brothers and five sisters, named John, Constantine, James, George, Thomas, Jane, Mary, Ann, Martha and Hannah.  She was the second youngest of the eleven children.
