Martha's father was Samuel Brereton and her mother was Jane Whittingham. She had five brothers and five sisters, named John, Constantine, James, George, Thomas, Jane, Mary, Ann, Betty and Hannah.  She was the third youngest of the eleven children.  She died as an infant in April 1793 in Stapeley.  She was buried on April 18th, 1793 in Wybunbury.¹
