Thomas' father was Samuel Brereton and his mother was Jane Whittingham. He had four brothers and six sisters, named John, Constantine, James, George, Jane, Mary, Ann, Martha, Betty and Hannah.  He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 3 in April 1788 in Stapeley.  He was buried on April 15th, 1788 in Wybunbury.¹
