Hannah was born in September 1798 in Little Bolton and her baptism took place on September 30th, 1798 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Hannah's father was Edmund Bolton and her mother was Mary Davenport. She had six brothers and five sisters, named John, James, Robert, Sarah, Edmund, John, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Nancy and Dolly.  She was the fourth youngest of the twelve children.
