Edmund was born in 1792 in Little Bolton and his baptism took place on July 18th, 1792 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Edmund's father was Edmund Bolton and his mother was Mary Davenport. He had five brothers and six sisters, named John, James, Robert, Sarah, John, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Hannah, Nancy and Dolly.  He was the sixth oldest of the twelve children.
