John Allen

John was born in June 1813 in Bolton and his christening took place on June 27th, 1813 at St. Mary (Deane).¹²

  Joseph was a Weaver from Great Bolton

John's father was Joseph Allen and his mother was Sarah Carter. His paternal grandparents were John Allen and Ellen Welsby. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Benjamin, Benjamin, William, Joseph, George, George, Elizabeth, Sarah and Jane. He was the nineth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 63 in March 1877 in Bolton. His burial was on April 21st, 1872 at Tonge-with-Haulgh Cemetery.³⁴
